Red Dead Redemption II, developed and published by Rockstar Games in 2018, is an action-adventure game that serves as a prequel to the 2010 game Red Dead Redemption. Set in 1899, the game takes place in a fictionalized representation of the Western, Midwestern, and Southern United States. Players take on the role of Arthur Morgan, an outlaw and member of the Van der Linde gang, as he navigates the decline of the Wild West while fighting for survival against government forces, rival gangs, and other adversaries. The story also follows fellow gang member John Marston, the protagonist of the original Red Dead Redemption, adding depth and context to the series' overarching narrative.
