At the graveside of Lazarus, in the middle of heartbreak and questions, Jesus spoke one of His most powerful declarations:
“I am the resurrection and the life.”

In John 11, Martha believed in a future resurrection, but Jesus redirects her hope to a Person, not a timetable. The answer to death is not merely an event to come… the answer is Jesus Himself.

Throughout Scripture, Jesus even refers to death as “sleep,” reminding us that for those who trust Him, death is not the end, it is a doorway into life everlasting.

Near the end of his life, D. L. Moody famously said,
“Earth is receding; heaven is approaching. This is my crowning day.”
That is the confidence believers carry. And it is not because of what we’ve done, but because of WHO Jesus is.

And with all tenderness and authority, Jesus still asks the same question today: “Do you believe this, __your name__?”
