Anthony Lamb is the poster child of Section V Basketball, has there ever been a more dominant player in the past 20 years? We are talking about the 2x AGR player of the year, his accolades could fill up several team's resumes alone.
Last season Anthony Lamb led his squad to the NY State Championship game. Throughout his entire varsity career Lamb has less than a handful of losses. Have you ever met a workaholic, what's wrong with being just as competitive in the classroom. Lambs carries a 3.9 GPA, this is a lifestyle for this kid. His competitive drive has earned him a scholarship to the University of Vermont. Anthony's talent mixed with his dedication toward's the class room has given him a $50,000 dollar a year scholarship, this doesn't include all of the sneakers, team wear, flights, 5 star hotel's, extensive traveling, trips out of the country, ESPN coverage etc. In fact Lamb will be able to play "himself" on NCAA11 for PS3.
Imagine hearing all of the negative statistics about the tiny chances of ever being awarded a full basketball scholarship, Just think about how many different people you have played ball with your whole life and you are the one who "MADE IT"?
Lamb dream's are happening now, he basically defied the odd's. Yep, he will be joining Tyler Ralph as the only 3x AGR PLAYER's of the year. This is a microscopic fraternity, Tyler Ralph is now one of the top trainer's on the planet. That kid is international now.
What could really phase Ant right now, he is in his own lane. Of course we all know of great athletes from the past but who has the "hardware" aka accolades to back it up? We are talking team MVP, Basketball camp MVP, AAU MVP, sectional's MVP, Regional MVP, State MVP and then add the fact that he has multiples of almost everyone?
There isn't a h.s. basketball gym in All greater Rochester who aren't aware of Lamb. Its hard for him to hide away from the public, especially being 6'7. Not to mention, every major media outlet in Rochester has been covering him since 10th grade.
The Kid is a gym rat, he breath's, eat's and sleep's basketball. Lamb worked hard to achieve this level of success this early in his career. Of course he deal's with the same temptation's as any other high school student would. Yet he chooses to apply himself to be excellent, he wants the ball in his hand at the end of the game, he goes into the test prepared, he doesn't miss free throw's, he's at the YMCA on Saturday nights and he stay's hydrated while getting proper rest.
Failure is not an option for Mr Lamb, not once has lamb ever been tarnish for negative behavior but its hard to get in trouble when you are driven for excellence. Lamb is the perfect example of a kid who is making the most out of the "hand their dealt", his childhood did not come with a silver spoon. He didn't come from money, he isn't the fastest, quickest, highest jumper, or strongest but Anthony Lamb has heart and he will out work you period. His focus level is monotonous, he only goes HARD!
Regardless if Lamb goes to the NBA, he will earn his B.A. in 3 1/2 years and graduate with a Master degree before he turns 22 at his current rate.
Lamb has a 4 year scholarship with a red shirt year option, so the total monetary value after 5 year's would be $249,270 dollar's.
So when people asked me why I waited to put Lamb's video together, its simple because he has already WON.
