Is Apple Coming for AllTrails?

Yesterday, Apple announced updates to Apple Maps focused on helping hikers navigate the outdoors.

You’ll now be able to view topographic maps, trail networks, and hikes directly within the Maps app.

This includes map information across all 63 US National Parks, which is super handy as we are on a trip to visit all of them right now.

For the planners out there, you’ll be able to save and download thousands of hikes to your Maps library for offline use. Better yet, you’ll be able to add notes to each saved route.

You’ll also be able to create custom routes and get turn-by-turn guidance.

Best part, all of this is free.

It’s clear Apple has watched the success of AllTrails over the years and is looking to capitalize on this budding segment.
