How To Lock, Hide, and Unhide iPhone Apps on iOS 18

You can now lock and hide individual apps on your iPhone using iOS 18. First you need to make sure you're updated to the latest iOS 18 release though. If you haven't done that yet, do it first.

After that, we can lock and hide an app.

First, find and long press the app icon you want to hide. When the menu appears, tap "Require Face ID." Then, select the second option: "Hide and Require Face ID." A message will explain what happens when you hide the app. To confirm, tap "Hide App."

Now, the app is completely hidden. It won’t show up in search, Spotlight suggestions, Siri suggestions, or even in the app library.

Hidden apps are stored in a "Hidden" folder within the app library. To access them, tap the folder, and you’ll need to authenticate with Face ID. Once inside, tap the app icon you want to open, and Face ID will be required again to open it.

To unhide an app, find it inside of the hidden folder, long press on the icon, and then choose don't require face ID.

Once it's unlocked, you'll then need to add it back to your home screen. Search for the app inside the library, long press on the icon, and then choose add to home screen.

And that's how you hide apps on your iPhone.
