Bhargavi Davar: At the Intersection of Mental Health, Identity and Institutions

Описание к видео Bhargavi Davar: At the Intersection of Mental Health, Identity and Institutions

Gendered psychopathology is not a passive concept wherein our assumptions and conceptions about a gender inform a pathological model. Rather, it is the produce of the effects of power relations operating in our society. This intersection of class, caste and gender in the realm of mental health reflects in the work of Bhargavi Davar, who was a noted mental health activist in India. Through this video, the aim is to put forward her ideas in a condensed form and use her observations as stepping stones to conceptualising the idea of health and disorder in our society.

References used of her works are listed at the end of the video!
