It is often misunderstood that there is only Angkor Wat temple in Siem Reap when you visit Khmer Empire's archaeological park. However, there are actually 1000 over temples all over Cambodia and hundreds within Siem Reap itself.
In this video, you can find my vlogs in eleven temples within the archaeological park; Angkor Wat, Ta Phrom, Preah Khan, Pre Rup, East Mebon, Phnom Bakheng, Angkor Thom, Bayon Temple, Baphuon Temple, Banteay Srei, and Beng Mealea.
Typically, tourists join a Small Circuit and Grand Circuit temple tours. These temples are usually included in the tours:
Small Circuit: Angkor Wat, Bayon, Ta Keo (closed for renovation when i visited), Ta Prohm and Banteay Kdei (closed for renovation when i visited)
Grand Circuit: Preah Khan, Ta Som (closed for renovation when i visited), Neak Pean and Pre Rup
Among the temples within the archaeological park, Angkor Wat is obviously the most famous one. It is built as a temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu during the rule of Suryavarman II, and later was converted to a temple dedicated to Buddha when Buddhism thrived in Khmer Empire.
Ta Phrom and Preah Khan are temples dedicated to mother and father of Jayavarman VII. Ta Phrom is famous as the Tomb Raider temple. Preah Khan is one of the Khmer Empire temple with complex history, as it was first built with Buddhism element, and was then converted to a temple with Hinduism element, but is incomplete.
Pre Rup, East Mebon and Phnom Bakheng are temples older than Angkor Wat and has distinguish feature with towers built with bricks.
Angkor Thom is the capital city of Khmer Empire. The city is surrounded by great gates with four faces, which is still being determined if it belongs to Jayavarman VII, Buddha or Lord Brahma. Within the ancient city, you can find the grand palace of Jayavarman VII, Terrace of Elephant, Bayon Temple, Baphuon Temple and many smaller prasats (temple towers).
Bayon Temple is a favourite temple for locals located within Angkor Thom. Its 51 towers with four faces are similar to the ones you can see at the great entrance gates of Angkor Thom.
Baphuon Temple is also located within Angkor Thom. It is a multi-terrace temple where you can walk on and see great top view of Angkor Thom.
Banteay Srei and Beng Mealea are located further away. Banteay Srei is well-known for its intriguing carvings and pink stone. Beng Mealea is one of the latest temple that was discovered, and least restored among all the temples I visited.

I highly recommend the trip, which includes Sunrise trip to Angkor Wat as well as Banteay Srei, a beautiful temple which is not included in typical Small Circuit and Grand Circuit tours.
If you would like to visit the temples by yourself without a tour guide, you can take TukTuk from Siem Reap City Centre to the archaeological park. As I had a couple of extra days, I visited some of the temples which are not included in the Small Circuit or Grand Circuit tour by myself (Beng Mealea, Phnom Bakheng and explored Angkor Thom by myself). My TukTuk driver was Mr. Sun. He is extremely professional and speaks great English. He could bring you around the temples and arrange private trip with your group (max of 4 pax). Do note that only certified tour guides are allowed to guide tourists within the temple, hence TukTuk drivers would typically wait for you outside the temples while you visit the temples.
