The graveyard surrounding Heptonstall's two churches supposedly houses around 100,000 bodies, roughly equivalent to the population of Halifax. It's like a silent city of the dead crammed into a space no bigger than a playing field! Among the graves, you'll find numerous intricately carved stones dating back to the 16 and 17 hundreds.
