We recently experimented by growing sweet potatoes two different ways. One way is what we've done for several years in our North Texas garden, which is in our large raised bed. We first grew slips before planting them, and they stayed on drip irrigation with a steady amount of fertilizer. We also grew them from whole sweet potatoes without slips in a large container. In the end, we saw a noticeable difference, and hopefully the lessons we learned will help you with your gardening.
