PATCO High Speed line -15th 16th & Locust to Lindenwold

Описание к видео PATCO High Speed line -15th 16th & Locust to Lindenwold

This is the third line I rode on with my dad on Saturday. The PATCO High Speed Line or the former Bridge Line runs from 15th 16th & Locust streets in Philadelphia over the Benjamin Franklin Bridge to Lindenwold in New Jersey. This line uses Budd cars and cars built by the Vickers Canada under license from Budd. Both types of cars are identical expect the Budd's have a stainless steel shrouding at the bottom of the cars. While my dad and I was waiting at 15th 16th & Locust I film one train as it enters and departs. We didn't take that train because some one was in the front seat so I couldn't film. 20 minutes later I film my train as it comes down the grade to the station. I get in the lead car # 281 for the run to Lindenwold. If you hear the radio chatter we will be the first train to run over the bridge on the eastbound track. Along the way you get to hear the traction motors hum as the train makes quick acceleration. These cars have the same trucks and the same gears that were used in the Budd Pioneer 3 cars. Also along the way you get to hear the unique horns these cars have. As we speed up the line over bridges and grade separation we have several meets with trains. Between Broadway and Ferry Avenue on Saturday a MOW crew is installing new cables on the Westbound track. This section is single track through the tunnel for trains heading I both directions. It also allows me to hear more of the horns. The rest of the way is a clear sprint to Lindenwold. Prior to leaving the station I take some pictures of car 281 and the interior of car 287 before heading home with my dad. I hope you enjoy this video!!
