If the oil level is too low or the oil is thick with sludge, the system cannot generate enough pressure to activate the solenoids, causing the computer to set this code and disable the feature. Before testing the solenoid resistance or checking the wiring harness for rodent damage, perform a complete oil change and ensure the level is correct. If the electrical circuit is truly open, replacing the solenoid under the intake manifold is the next step to restore full engine operation.
