How to associate a Zoho Project to an existing contact that has no account. And the best practice workflow to do create a project correctly.

I am a freelance designer and work with a lot of different client types and projects. I’m looking for the best way to organize and automate my workflows. I have Zoho One so I have been setting up my CRM and creating a sort of client-onboarding system. So far, so good, although I’m sure there’s still some tweaks that could streamline things.

But the main issue I am running into now is how overly complicated Projects is for this purpose. My end result is to have a basic project tracking system where a client can upload files, approve revisions, and organize communications. Right now I have multiple emails, text messages, chats (facebook, twitter, skype, several others), plus google drive, dropbox, emails, gah the list goes on!

I finally figured out how to add Milestones / Task Lists / Tasks (which is like 3-tiers too many for me, but hey, if I can create a template for this process, fine…) but now I am trying to attach a projec to an existing client (whom I have under my Contacts tab) and I’m being told I have to associate a cilent to an Account first. What if my clients don’t HAVE an account? I work a lot of time with single individuals getting some photo retouching or postcards made, there is no actual business with which to associate them. I suppose I could create an account named after the PROJECT but that seems a bit muddy. Thoughts on best practices here? I really want to be able to use the Lead / Deal modules and interface them with my Contacts and Projects.
