Cyclone Biparjoy Updates: Disaster Management Teams Preps On As Cyclone Biparjoy Was At 200KM West Of Gujarat At 2:30AM

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued an orange alert for the Saurashtra and Kutch coasts of Gujarat, where extremely severe cyclonic storm Biparjoy is likely to cross near Jakhau Port by noon on June 15. Biparjoy is currently over the east-central Arabian Sea and moved northwards with a speed of 5 kmph in the last six hours, the weather office said in its daily cyclone advisory. The effects of Biparjoy were evident as strong winds and high tidal waves were witnessed on the Gujarat coast and Mumbai. Seven teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed in the areas of Saurashtra and Kutch. A State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team is also on standby. Several people living in low-lying areas in the districts of Porbandar, Devbhumi Dwarka, Jamnagar, Kutch and Morbi will be evacuated from Monday. Over 10,000 people will be relocated in the entire coastal area.
