Описание к видео “Raising Hands After Every Fard Prayer? A Dangerous Innovation!”

In this video, Sheikh Assim Al-Hakeem teaches us the importance of following the authentic practices of Islam and warns against innovations (bid’ah). One common innovation is the act of raising the hands after every fard (obligatory) prayer and wiping the face afterward. Some people claim that this act is harmless, often citing non-prophetic practices like raising hands before bed, but the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) never did this after obligatory prayers.

What is Innovation (Bid’ah)?

Innovation in Islam is defined as introducing practices or beliefs into the religion that were not established by the Prophet (ﷺ) or his companions. The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:
• “Whoever introduces something into this matter of ours (Islam) that is not part of it will have it rejected.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari 2697)

Raising the Hands After Fard Prayers

There is no authentic narration showing that the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) raised his hands after performing the obligatory prayers (fard). The act of raising the hands after prayer and wiping the face is not from the Sunnah and cannot be justified by saying “there is no harm in it.”

Evidence from the Sunnah:
1. The Prophet (ﷺ) did not raise his hands after fard prayers:
• The companions never reported that the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) raised his hands after the obligatory prayers, either individually or as a congregation.
• “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) never raised his hands after any of the obligatory prayers.” (Sunan Abu Dawood 1354, graded sahih by al-Albani)
2. The importance of following the Sunnah:
• “Follow the Sunnah and avoid innovations, for every innovation is misguidance.” (Sunan Ibn Majah 42)
• The Prophet (ﷺ) also said: “Whoever does an act which is not in agreement with our matter (religion), will have it rejected.” (Sahih Muslim 1718)

The Claim of “No Harm” in Innovations

Some people justify innovations by saying, “There is no harm in it.” However, Islam teaches that adding to the religion is a serious matter. The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) warned against it repeatedly:
• “Beware! Whoever innovates something in this matter (Islam) will have it rejected.” (Sahih Bukhari 2550)
• In another narration, the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Every innovation is misguidance, and every misguidance is in the Hellfire.” (Sahih Muslim 867)

How to Apply the Sunnah
1. Stick to the authentic practices: We should make it a point to follow the actions and practices established by the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) and his companions. If something was not done by the Prophet (ﷺ) after the obligatory prayers, then it should not be done by us.
2. Ask: Did the Prophet (ﷺ) do it?
Whenever in doubt, ask: Did the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) ever do this? If the answer is no, then it is likely an innovation and should be avoided.
3. Be cautious of innovations: The best way to protect ourselves from falling into innovations is by studying the authentic sources (Quran and Sunnah) and learning from qualified scholars. Innovation is a subtle deviation that often begins with well-meaning actions but can lead to greater misguidance over time.

Conclusion:

Innovations such as raising the hands after fard prayers and wiping the face are not from the Sunnah and should be avoided. The Prophet (ﷺ) warned us that any addition to the religion would be rejected. We must be careful in our worship, ensuring it aligns with the practices of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) and his companions. Stick to the authentic and leave the innovations.

🔗 Follow the Sunnah, avoid innovations.
