Immunotherapy and beyond for lung cancer prevention

Описание к видео Immunotherapy and beyond for lung cancer prevention

Jianjun Zhang, MD, PhD, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX, discusses innovative strategies in lung cancer interception during a session at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2024 Congress. The session explored lung cancer screening not only for heavy smokers but also for never-smokers and highlighted the role of biomarkers in enhancing screening protocols. Dr Zhang emphasizes the challenge of managing persistent lung nodules, which may represent precancerous lesions that complicate surgical or radiotherapeutic interventions. Dr Zhang highlights the importance of developing medical therapies to target these precancerous nodules, leveraging their unique molecular characteristics and preserved anti-tumor immunity. Immunotherapy is a primary focus, showing promising safety profiles and early evidence of efficacy in preventing the progression of precancerous nodules to invasive lung cancer. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2024 Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
