The moon snail is a fascinating marine gastropod found along the Atlantic coast of North America. Its shell is characterized by a smooth, round shape and can reach sizes up to four inches in diameter. Moon snails are predatory creatures, using their large, muscular foot to burrow into sand or mud in search of prey, including the blue mussel. They have a drilling radula, a tongue-like structure with rows of sharp teeth, which allows them to bore through the shells of their prey, leaving its characteristic mark.
