The Chevrolet Impala was the company’s flagship passenger car during its long initial run from 1958 to 1985. It changed a lot over the years, but the second-generation (1959-1960) models are among the hottest in the collector car market at the moment with their distinctive batwing rear deck. However, the 1959 model was the only one with love-them-or-hate-them teardrop headlights and non-functional front intake scoops above the grille. This red 1959 Impala Sport Coupe RestoMod is the best mix of classic styling with Pro Touring reliability. It shows only 200 miles on the clock since a professional frame-off, nut-and-bolt rotisserie restoration; no expense was spared on this build, with the undercarriage and chassis painted and detailed as well as the topside. This rust-free vehicle still sports its original floors, quarters and body panels, while the trim and brightwork were restored to factory condition. This big-body Impala rides on an AccuAir Air Ride Suspension with tubular control arms, while a 500 Series close-ratio steering box adds to the modern feel. It rides on Intro two-piece billet wheels (20-inch rear, 19-inch front) with 4-wheel disc brakes backing them up. Radio not working and it has no hazard lights. It’ll need those discs with its fuel-injected LS crate engine dressed with an LS3 intake cover and accessories fed by an Aeromotive A1000 fuel system. A 4L60E automatic overdrive transmission provides better fuel consumption going down the highway. Inside, the distinctive three-tone stock-style Impala seats and red/black speckled carpet keep with the original vibe, while modern amenities are stealthily employed. Dakota Digital gauges were an important upgrade, as they provide much more information on the message center screen from the EFI computer. Meanwhile, a Vintage Air Gen IV climate-control system keeps the occupants cool on hot days and warm on cold ones. Customs are all the rage right now, and what’s not to like about them—modern amenities in a classic wrapper means better fuel economy and more reliable running for even more years of enjoyment.
