This is my current collection of WWII German DU and DI H military issued watches. The DU supposedly stands for DienstUhr (Verwaltung), which was used for government services and administration. These are rather rare. The DI H then are subject of controversy. They supposedly were issued to German Forces for surveillance (spying) purposes... Then other sources say they were issued to the German Italian Afrikacorps units. Then there's also a source which believes that these were ordered by the Germans towards the end of the war, but the DI H watches were never delivered, and as such later sold on to the civilian market. Still source of much speculation, so they're not as straightforward to collect as others, but I like picking them up when I get the chance, as collecting more might one day offer the key to figuring out what they are exactly.
In this video you have Helvetia DI H, both center seconds and subseconds variant, and a few dial variations. Then I've also got the following DU watches: Acacia, Arsa, Aster, Bielco, Flora, Heloisa, Nivia, and Zodiac. A few of these were also featured in Konrad Knirims Militäruhren book.
