The North Truro Air Force Station was built in 1951, and was active until the site's closure in 1994. Now in the hands of the National Park Service, the NTAFS is in the process of being turned into the Highlands Center. The site still contains several abandoned buildings, including a library, a bowling alley, a bar, and barracks. The family housing area could still be there, but we looked into it before we went and read an article that stated it was slated for demolition late 2016. Not sure if it ever went through, but it was enough to convince us that the housing was gone by the time of our visit. The 'Highlands Center' project includes the building of a performing arts center, and other facilities to meet the needs of the National Park Service and the community, however it does not look like they have made a lot of progress.
