The Kingdom of Kush was an ancient African kingdom that thrived 3,000 years ago. The Kushites were skilled iron-workers, and their craftsmanship was highly prized throughout the ancient world.

They also had powerful female rulers, including the famous Queen Amanirenas, despite being blinded in one eye by a Roman soldier she famously led her armies in several successful campaigns against the Romans around the 1st century BCE.

Her story is a testament to the Kushites strength, resilience and determination to protect their kingdom and way of life.

Another fascinating aspect of the Kingdom of Kush is their unique blend of African and Egyptian culture. The Kushites adopted many aspects of Egyptian culture, including their religion and hieroglyphic writing system whilst also retaining their own distinct cultural identity.
