How To Set up at Pet Desert Beetle Tank Part 1

This is part 1 of 2 where we go from beginning to end in setting up a pet desert beetle tank. The video got too long to upload as just one video. There are so many questions that people have asked me over the years and I've typed so many replies to emails in the 23 years my website has been up. It will be very nice to be able to point people to this set of videos in the future when they have questions about how to set up a new pet desert beetle tank for example, or fine tune a pet death feigning beetle terrarium, or troubleshoot health issues with their pet darkling beetles.

In this first video we see some clips four species of popular pet death feigning beetles including the blue death feigning beetle Asbolus verrucosus, smooth death feigning beetle Asbolus laevis, black death feigning beetle Cryptoglossa variolosa, and the rough death feigning beetle Cryptoglossa muricata. Nyctoporis carinata is also featured. Among darkling beetles we show Eleodes armatus, Eleodes tribulus, Eleodes osculans, Iphthiminus serratus, Cerenopus concolor, Embaphion muricatum and Prionotheca coranata. We also see four species of ironclad beetles in the beetle subfamily Zopheridae including Zopherus tristus, Phellopsis porcata, Phloeodes diabolicum and Phloeodes plicatus. Both of these may be in the genus Nosoderma now.

Velvet ants are shown briefly here in Part 1. They are communal with desert beetles and will be featured more in Part 2 next week, and we will finish our tank build and put some bugs in it!
