John Muir Trail Adventure Ep. 13

Day 13 Lake Italy Junction - Sally Keys Lakes. Today I learned that I enjoy a nice mocha. Coffee and chocolate mixed together. Would go well with some whiskey. The mosquitos were really bad today. Charlie and I decided to start a contest, who can kill the most mosquitos. Charlie pulled way ahead and I just kinda gave up for the most part. I think they were attracted to him a bit more. We came to another pretty decent water crossing. the cold water felt good on our feet. The conversation along this stretch was very good. made the miles seem to fly by, also the fact that the clouds behind us seemed to be getting darker and darker. The stretch along Marie Lake leading up to Seldon pass was so fun. we stopped for lunch just before the pass and ate what food we had left. This mainly consisted of various jerkys, which I had gotten so tired of at this point. Once at the top of Seldon pass, we only spent enough time up there to appreciate the views and take a few pictures. We didn't want to get caught in the dark clouds that seemed to be coming our way. We set up camp nestled in between Sallie Keyes Lakes. It made for a very cool camp spot. Lots of little fish in the water. Dinner was one of my old favorite backpacking meals, with my own take on it.
