The Institute for Preservation of Art and Culture (IPAC) and Kuch Khaas brings you the tenth concert of the Instrumental Ecstasy series of concerts.

Featuring instrument: Charsadda Folk Sehtar and Mangai
The Sehtar from Charsadda is also a long-necked lute played in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan. It is not related to the North Indian classical Sitar and its name is probably derived from the Setar a Central Asian and Iranian long-necked lute.

The instrument is similar in construction to the Chitrali Sitar but the playing style is different of both areas. In this event we are lucky to have the last Ustad (Maestro) of Charsadda sitar to perform for us. Accompanying the Sitar we will have the traditional folk clay percussion instrument of the region called Mangai.

Artists: Ustad Zainullah Jan on Charsadda Sitar and Ustad Malang Jan on Mangai (Clay percussion).
