Google's Eric Schmidt had some choice words at CES about, well, choice. He again denied that the Android platform is plagued by fragmentation, instead insisting it was driven by customer-friendly differentiation. According to Schmidt, "Differentiation means that you have a choice and the people who are making the phones, they're going to compete on their view of innovation." He said the ecosystem Google is fostering across phones, tablets, computers, and more will only serve to empower them, since the underlying engineering and experience remains the same. Schmidt also took a dig at Apple's recent lawsuits and sales injunctions against Samsung tablets as "prevention of choice," arguing that the market should decide which products deserve consumer dollars. Apparently the "Don't Be Evil" motto includes "don't be a corporate control freak."
