Braised Pork Ribs With Yam is a delicious savoury one pot dish cooked with yam / taro and pork ribs. This braised spare ribs stew is a popular comfort food dish that you can easily cook at home. Best enjoyed with a bowl of steamed rice.

This makes a wonderful one dish meal - and not only simple to cook, the wonderfully flaky texture of the yam make this yam dish extremely creamy and tasteful. Adding fried dried shrimp into it simply elevate the taste making it so flavourful and addictive.

Yam or Taro is a root vegetable. It is consumed as a cooked starchy vegetable. It is an extremely versatile vegetable that can be cooked in various ways, be it sweet in desserts and savoury as in some snacks or meal dishes. There are two types of yam, big and small ones. The big ones are usually preferred and the small ones are usually used to make sweet soups. Always choose yam that are firm and heavy.

This braised pork ribs with yam is a savoury yam dish made with yam and pork ribs. The yam is first cut into thin slices and fry till slightly brown. Then marinated pork ribs are fried with sautéed onion and dried shrimps. Water is added to cook the pork ribs till soft before adding the yam. Continue to cook till pork ribs turn tender and sauce thickens to perfection.
