Hypervigilant, on alert, anxiety: high. I’m not sure people understand how triggering sounds can be to us. One the one hand, there’s misophonia, which makes us unreasonably angry when we hear certain sounds. On the other hand, stuff like this, startled, cowering. It’s basically the whole gamut, fight, flight, freeze. The other dimension to this too is not wanting to be heard or disturb anyone, which means tiptoeing around the place, listening for sounds (if we can hear them, they can hear us), wasting time just standing in one spot waiting for the sounds to stop. Anyway, just caught this on the cameras as we were walking through the studio.
