Dr. Sailendra Kumar Mahanta is a Professor and Associate Dean, School of Pharmacy at The Assam Kaziranga University. He holds a Ph.D. in Biotechnology and Medical Engineering from NIT Rourkela, with research focused on self-assembled nanostructured protein-based therapeutics for breast cancer. He also earned his M.Pharm (Pharmacology) and B.Pharm from institutions affiliated with BPUT, Rourkela.

With over a decade of academic, research, and industrial experience, Dr. Mahanta has served as Associate/Assistant Professor at leading pharmacy institutions and as a Research Associate at Glenmark Pharmaceuticals, where he worked extensively on in-vivo and in-vitro pharmacological models, neuroscience, and cancer research. His expertise spans nanomedicine, cancer therapeutics, oxidative stress biology, AI-driven drug discovery, and pharmacology.

Dr. Mahanta is a recipient of several prestigious recognitions, including the Innovation Ambassador Award (MOE, Govt. of India) and the SERB-DST TARE Research Grant. He has also received DST-FIST and Tuberculosis Association of India research grants. An active researcher, he has published widely in high-impact international journals, authored multiple book chapters with Springer and Wiley, and contributed to national and international conferences.

He has played key leadership roles in innovation and incubation activities, organized international and national conferences, and served as a resource person for AICTE-ATAL FDP programs. Dr. Mahanta is a lifetime member of professional pharmacy bodies and continues to contribute significantly to research, innovation, and academic excellence in pharmaceutical and biomedical sciences.
