Playthrough with Geese Howard. I've beaten this game with Terry and Mai before, and wanted to try someone new. This game is typical SNK -looks and sounds great, but is completely ruined by the CPU difficulty. It's not quite as bad as Fatal Fury Special, but the CPU tends to block everything, frame perfect counters way too much and is generally just way too annoying to fight. I think SNK themselves realized more people might play their games if they made them easier, as the next game is considerably easier than this.

Anyway, if you want to fight all the bosses you have to get good ranks, which means beating your opponent as quickly as you can, whilst also trying not to take much damage. This is, of course, far easier said than done due to the CPU problems noted above. Geese has several moves, but the ones you only really need are his double reppu kens and his down forward + strong punch throw. I have always hated his desperation move input, but I did manage to pull it off a few times, and even hit the opponent with it once! The game loves it when you KO your opponent with a desperation move, it usually guarantees you a good rank if you do it.

You'll want to use the down forward throw because it looks cool, and his other throws are near useless -throws are mostly way too slow in this game, but the down forward one works well, and has a good grab range. Hon-Fu, Sokaku and Terry can all be beaten the same way -throw out a double reppu ken, let them change planes and head towards you, then get them with the throw as they change back to your plane. This still isn’t guaranteed to work, the CPU tends to waste time (eg Terry backdashing too much) but eventually you should be able to get them with this strat.

Yamazaki is an oddball because I can never get him to consistently do what I want. When the round starts, dash back and start throwing out double reppu kens, if you're lucky he'll change planes and then charge straight into them. But once he’s low on health you have to be wary, since his desperation move goes over the reppu kens. For the brats, keep spamming double reppu ken. Maybe there's a better way to beat them but that's all I got.
