Former Chinese Senior Military Colonel Zhou Bo told DW news at the 2023 Munich Security Conference that Western actions provoked Russia's invasion of Ukraine. He also said the West is prolonging and escalating the war in Ukraine and that Russia cannot be defeated. "Russia will still remain a large country with a large nuclear arsenal....so there will be a stalemate." The former colonel also mentioned that China and Russia share a long border and it was in both countries' interests to ensure they have a "good and stable" relationship.
