King Charles with Jonny Thompson Welcomed to Summer Residence at Balmoral by Balaklava Coy 19.08.24

Balmoral Castle is now closed to visitors as it becomes the Summer Residence of King Charles and the Royal Family with invited Guests for the rest of the holidays. Aide to the King, Lt.Col.Jonny Thompson, accompanied His Majesty for today's Official Ceremony carried out by his former Regiment of which he was once Commanding Officer as Major Jonathan Thompson, before becoming Equerry to Prince Charles & The Duchess of Cornwall in 2020. Today he was back in a kilt, but not the green Royal Regiment of Scotland kilt we're so used to seeing him wear. This was more of a reddish colour and could be the Lonach Tartan from the area where he previously lived, though the Wallace Clan wear a scarlet tartan and Forbes Clan, who make up the Lonach Highlanders, a different coloured Tartan. Though Jonny still had his sgian dubh down his right sock, his dominant side by tradition, meaning he is right handed. Once a soldier always a soldier. The Officer Commanding today was Major Neil Cargill, making his debut, who described it as an "immense honour".
No doubt the Regiment will be enjoying the two Ghillies Balls in the Balmoral Ballroom, open to the public recently, for Highland Dancing, and as we know, Jonny is an expert Dancer. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿❤🤍💙🥰
