Pottery Compilation - Nerikomi Patterns and Techniques

Описание к видео Pottery Compilation - Nerikomi Patterns and Techniques

Nerikomi Patterns and Techniques. This pottery compilation includes 7 nerikomi techniques, 9 nerikomi patterns/blocks, and 14 finished pieces that use the nerikomi process. All of the videos in this compilation are from my channel with some unseen extras thrown in. This nerikomi compilation is meant to wow and inspire. I'm using colored porcelain that was made by mixing in different mason stains at different percentages by weight. Nerikomi, agateware, neriage and marbled clay are all in the colored clay family of techniques. There are difference between them but sometimes the terms are used more interchangeably. Nerikomi is typically hand built and more controlled.

A majority of these videos can be found on my channel at longer lengths, with more steps and in some cases, narration to explain what I'm doing in the tutorial. Some are from my instagram. They've been shortened and audio has been removed for this pottery compilation so you can enjoy all of the beautiful patterns and colored clay.

You might also come across neriage in your nerikomi search. It's a similar process, sometimes used interchangeably, but neriage is usually made on the wheel after your slabs are cut and formed into a cylinder. Neri means "to mix" and age means "pull up". But again, nerikomi and neriage are similar and use many of the same techniques. Marbled clay is also in this family but usually marbled clay is messier and uncontrolled. Nerikomi, agateware, and neriage are more controlled processes.
