Jabdo is being perform in the eastern part of Ladakh, i.e. Changthang. Changthang is known for Changpa Communities and specially for their Dance and Music. People of Nomadic communities use to take their Yak, sheep, and goat for grazing up in the hills. After they return, then all the families gather together and perform Jabdo around the bornfire. . Jabdo is a combination of two words, I.e. Jab and Do, Jab means foot and Do means step and that means foot stepping. Changthang is very cold during winter, temperature dips to- 35 degrees Celsius. So, they dance to warm themselves up in the evening time. Jabdo songs are sung to the accompaniment of Dramnyan(a stringed instrument) and the flute.



SAVE is an NGO working towards the best
erment of different things in the Changthang region, our one of the motivation is also to preserve the culture and heritage of the region. And Jabdo is one of the main identity of the Changpa Communities which really needs to be preserve and should be learn by the younger generations. To keep it alive, we the younger generations should embrace them. Jab is the traditional dance of the whole Changthang region, which we are trying to learn and preserve it.
