Padley Gorge - Second Walk of Our Peak District Holiday - I Think We Followed The Hardest Route!

We'd had a few people recommend that we visit Padley Gorge because of it's natural beauty. We were very glad that we did as it was indeed a beautiful walk. We decided to take a rather tricky walk in places that took us down into the gorge where we then scrambled up and over large boulders along the river. In some places, the pathway was very narrow with a very sheer drop down to the river - I did have a couple of 'jelly leg' moments as I came very close to the edge! But it was very much worth it, the views and weaving down through the ancient woodland was stunning. We walked as far as we could along the gorge and then made out way back up through, what looked like, a very mystical woodland.
We parked along the road at the Grindleford Station, which was only £3 all day... once you can navigate round the RingGo App which was a bit tricky as we had no phone signal!
Although we thoroughly enjoyed out visit to the Gorge, we were disappointed in the amount of rubbish left behind by people enjoying a swim. Everything from towels to underwear was found along the river, which did spoil the beauty of it a little. I would however, definitely recommend visiting, but would recommend you wear a good pair of boots if you take the lower path.
