Yıldız Palace was built by Sultan Mehmed III for the first time. It was built for Selim's Mother, Mihrişah Sultan, the Ottoman Sultan II. The palace was used as the main palace of the Ottoman Empire during the reign of Abdülhamit. Nowadays it is located in Besiktas District, at European side of Istanbul.
