Coalface to Wild Space - visit Fairburn Tips to see how an old spoil heap is returning to nature.

In July 2019, we helped the RSPB buy Fairburn Tips, part of the RSPB Fairburn Ings reserve in West Yorkshire. Two years on from the purchase, we took a trip to Yorkshire to see how the land is returning to nature.

Fairburn Tips was once a dumping ground for coal mining, it's thanks to the money from our customers phone bills, that we can help give areas of land like this, back to nature. Watch the video to learn about new booming bitterns, the creation of fish refuges, the development of visible ant hills – loved by the green woodpeckers! – and much more.
