MIKE CHEN’S HOT OILS vs. LAO GAN MA | Official Taste Test and Review

It’s the clash of the HOT CHILI OIL titans! Lao Gan Ma vs Mike Chen’s very own hot oils. We recently managed to purchase these highly sought after hot oils which come in a set of three - Classic Hot Oil, Black Bean Sauce, and Crispy Garlic Chili. But how do they stack up against the MIGHTY, the GREAT LAO GAN MAAAAA!!!!

Not only that, but we also have a mom and pop chinese restaurant home-made hot oil as well as a dark-horse candidate (Lao Gan Ma mushroom variant).

We put these oils to an official taste test! Each sauce will be evaluated twice - one with plain white rice and one with a crispy, air-fried chicken dumpling (...strictly dumpling??). We rated each hot oil on our ranking of 1 - 6; six being water (Aquafina bleh) and one being the coveted SPICE QUEEN!
