Описание к видео The Man Who Nearly KILLED George Washington

In the fall of 1777, a Scottish officer named Patrick Ferguson had George Washington in his sights. Armed with his own invention, the breech-loading Ferguson Rifle, he could have changed the entire course of American history with a single pull of the trigger. Instead, Ferguson made a fateful choice that revealed both his sense of honor and the tragic irony of his life.
Ferguson’s rifle was one of the most advanced weapons of the 18th century, capable of firing faster and in harsher conditions than the muskets used by both sides. His skill and leadership made him a valuable officer, but it was his decision to spare Washington at the Battle of Brandywine that cemented his legend. By refusing to shoot an unaware enemy officer, whom he later believed to be Washington, Ferguson unknowingly allowed the Revolution to survive.
Just three years later, Ferguson would fall at King’s Mountain, leading Loyalist forces against determined Patriot militias. His death cut short the career of one of Britain’s most innovative commanders. Patrick Ferguson’s story is a haunting reminder of how the fate of nations can hinge on a single moment of hesitation, mercy, or restraint.
