In this video, we discuss the process of PCR and genetic analysis of soil. We start by extracting DNA directly from a small soil sample. This DNA is then purified and amplified using a method called PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction), which allows us to generate a large amount of DNA from a very small initial sample.

We focus on amplifying regions of bacterial DNA, specifically the 16s ribosomal RNA region, and IPS sequences. By sequencing this DNA, we can identify the species of bacteria, fungi, and other microbes present in the soil, as well as determine their abundance and diversity.

This analysis is particularly useful for comparing soil samples before and after treatment, helping to assess changes in soil health and microbial composition.
