The South- Western Indian Ocean known as Indianoceania - includes six island states and territories, namely Mauritius and Reunion on the Mascarene side, Madagascar further west, Comoros and Mayotte in the Mozambique channel and Seychelles when heading north. Beyond their differences, these islands share much of economic, cultural and societal destinies.
Climate, biodiversity, public health, stability and peace... are all global public assets to be preserved. Through our support in the region, we are determined to help these territories meet these challenges by assisting in the implementation of sustainable solutions. Since 2007, we support, for example, the Indian Ocean Commission and its member states which, through the Epidemiological Surveillance and Investigation Network, are working to strengthen surveillance, alert and response mechanisms for emerging and mutating diseases.
