Are you enchanted by Carnaval? Do you want to attend the largest party in the work with amazing costumes, incredible dance moves and exhilarating samba music? I have awesome first hand experience and tons of helpful information for you.

Hit me up on IG @our.brazilian.life I would be happy to help or answer any of your questions.

The Camarote is the easiest, safest and best way to experience Carnaval but it’s also the most expensive.

Benefits from a camarote ticket is the shuttle pickup and drop-off, covered air-conditioned lounge, open bar, delicious catering buffet all night long, dance floor with renowned DJs, zen massage area, sofas to relax, makeup, t-shirt and all with a great view of the parade in the Sambodrome. This Camarote is R$2395 or $600 USD.

In the samabodrome you can get bleacher seats for around R$300 or $75. There are 10 sections of the sambodrome. The seats in sections 1 at the start of the parade are the cheapest around R$200 or US$50. The stadium seating from section 6 to 10 are the most expensive because you get to enjoy the parade longer. Sections 6 to 8 are the best because these are next to the judge’s booths so the performers and floats are at their best adding extra flare and surprises.

Outside of the Sambodrome most Carnaval events are actually free. They are called Blocos or block parties and Bandas or live bands. The blocos are very cultural events with street dancers, costumes, characters and even famous Brazilian singers preforming from large speaker trucks. They draw crowds of 10,000 to 300K or more. The Mega blocos have the famous singers. To get close you will have to buy tickets but not if you want to dance alongside.

There are lots of free blocos all over Rio. Safety and reliability are concerns at these events so leave your valuables at home but bring your willingness to have a goodtime. If you want an authentic Brazilian experience. I would highly recommend it. There are even wonderful family friendly blocos, which I will be posting tips for, in my next video.

Carnaval parties have different entertainment and locations every year. I have linked a few websites.
The south zone or locally known as Zona Sul (Copacabana and Ipanema) are the place to be when it comes to these street parties. Among the most popular events are those hosted by Banda de Ipanema, Volta Alice and Simpatia e Quase Amor.

For a schedule of events here are some websites. These change every year. I recommend Catraca Livre on facebook for the best Carnaval information. Video 158
