Unfortunately many peaks around our country, and the world, are becoming littered with more than just summit registers - geocaching, "treasure" hunting, memorials, food containers, religious proselytizing, and other nonsense are left behind to "enlighten" simple peak-baggers and nature-lovers who thought they had left the city long behind. Not only is this junk unsightly but, in cases like the wilderness area Kings Peak is located in, also illegal!

Anyway, Kings Peak is the highest point in my neighboring state of Utah at an elevation of 4,123 metres (13,528 feet) - referred to as a "13er" due to its height being over 13,000 feet.

Kings Peak is located in the southern part of the central Uinta Mountains in Duchesne County. The mountain, itself, and surrounding area is located in the Ashley National Forest with the peak and nearby lands "protected" as part of the High Uintas Wilderness. Kings Peak, itself, is 127 Kilometres (79 miles) east of central Salt Lake City, and 72 Kilometres (45 miles) due north of the town of Duchesne.
