Today we'll take you to Crescent falls. A small but a really pretty falls in the foothills of the Rockies near Nordegg in Alberta, Canada. It is about an hour and 20 mins from Rocky Mountain House and about 20 mins from Nordegg. We stayed in Rocky Mountain House as there are more accomodation options.

Crescent Falls is a series of two waterfalls located on the Bighorn River in the Bighorn River Canyon. The name is a reference to the crescent cliff over which they drop. It is about 4.5-kilometre north from David Thompson Highway. On the way to the falls there are a couple of viewpoints from where you can see the Bighorn river and the Bighorn Canyon.

The area is open all the year round. Now they have constructed a staircase which leads right down to the falls and thats a welcome change. I have visited this falls multiple times but this is first time seeing the falls from the front. If you want, you can also camp near the camps in the unserviced campground just north west of the falls. If you are looking for a quick day trip into the mountains from either Edmonton or Calgary then this is a good place to go. It is close to Lake Abraham which itself is spectacular both in summer and winter. You can watch our methane bubble in Abraham lake video in the link above.
