Did you know that around 84 million Americans would describe their sleep the previous night as “fair” or “poor”? And although that many Americans’ sleep quality remains low, most report that getting good sleep is a “major priority.” So, what does that mean? Sleep-friendly functional foods and beverages are going to be a huge CPG industry trend. If PepsiCo developing Driftwell, the relaxation and sleep focused functional water in 2020 wasn’t signal enough…how about another massive CPG conglomerate Post Holdings announcing they created a sleep-friendly ready-to-eat cereal brand called Sweet Dreams. While these large CPG offerings are increasing in frequency, I still believe there’s this huge relatively untapped market available to provide sleep-friendly packaged food and beverage choices for consumers who snack before bed (which is a huge share of Americans btw).
