The “heartache is vey real” for those Australians who’ve had significant milestones impacted by the coronavirus pandemic says Editor-in-Chief of Stellar Magazine Sarrah Le Marquand.

“Given the deeply partisan times in which we live, there's not much we collectively agree on these days,” Ms Le Marquand said.

“Although I dare venture there's near unanimous consensus that thus far the year 2020 has been a bit of a fizzer”.

Ms Le Marquand spoke of students who won’t be able to attend Schoolies celebrations, which have been banned, or those who will have to miss their own school formals due to the risk of the virus.

"Of course, there are far more serious issues to worry about right now, including a growing mental health crisis, widespread job losses and an historic economic fallout for the world economy,” she said.

“But learning to gain a little perspective is an acquired skill – and belittling the dismay of a generation of 17-year-olds won't do anything to accelerate that time-honoured process of growing up”.
