This song brims with Nostalgia.

Like "I Am I Said" it is autobiographical, but the difference is that while IAIS is a cry from the soul asking to be heard and understood, this song is racked with the mixed feelings of joy and pain which comes with childhood memories. Because childhood is irretrievable - we want to go back to that time of wonder and innocence, but can that ever be possible. The song is a journey into the past when Neil's life was filled with a myriad experiences; good (the love of parents, smells of cooking, a father's hug, a brother's friendship) - and not so good (school grades, a teacher's critical remarks, possible fear of upsetting the parents). He also expresses a curiosity about it all at this slightly later stage in life when he has moved away from it all. He wants to go back and see if those associations with his treasured memories are still there. What if he sees only new people he doesn't recognise, or people who are "scarred" by hard lives - as the place he lived in was not the most affluent.
I have borrowed some footage from previous videos of this song on YT, in particular "Snacky Steve" (Thank you!). Other footage is my own as I briefly visited the area recently. Please excuse the shakiness and imperfection of the clips (one day I hope to get better at all this).
Just as a quick point of interest, I read somewhere that the song title was meant to be "Brooklyn Rows" not "Roads". Would be grateful if anyone could reliably confirm this. Apparently, it relates to the way homes/streets of Brooklyn were built in rows.
I hope you will like the video, thank you in advance for watching.
