Stopped my fall off the roof using gear from Ballantyne Gear and CAMP,. This video was originally made for the sake of our professional engineer Greg Small. In 2008, when we started this project, all the fall protection companies and their engineers believed that you could not protect a worker at the edge of a first story sloped roof because you could not prevent the fall and there was not enough distance to arrest the fall. (Disclaimer: Maybe not all of them believed this but the ones I knew believed it, and I knew many.) Physics and this video prove otherwise. This belief was based on the proven fact that if you are standing on the edge of a ten foot tall flat roof (not a sloped roof) and your lifeline is attached to the rooftop, then your lifeline will likely not prevent a fall, and there is a good chance that if you fall, you will hit the ground or a lower surface, following a free fall of at least six feet and an additional distance of up to 3-1/2 feet to arrest the fall,. Shortly after viewing this video, and seeing that a user could be protected from falls from a ten foot edge, on a sloped roof, Greg certified the system to the ANSI Z359.6 standard as an engineered fall protection system for workers on residential sloped roofs and that it met the OSHA 1926.502 requirements.

Highly trained professionals demonstrated the strength and effectiveness of the Ballantyne Gear Eveook (aka Eve Hook) Non-Penetrating Fall Protection Systems for persons on residential style sloped roofs. Includes CAMP Safety Giant and Goblin. Do not attempt to recreate. Serious injuries may result.

Free Fall Adjustment, a concept recognized by the Ballantyne Gear Eveook team, is introduced, showing a safety advantage of working on a sloped roof vs a flat roof.
