The Los Muertos Beach Pier (or Lookout) is a great addition to Puerto Vallarta's Old Town oceanfront. José de Jesús Torres Vega, winner of the Mexican Biannual Architecture Prize designed it. It was the centerpiece of an ambitious Downtown Puerto Vallarta revitalization scheme that encompassed other projects, including the pedestrian bridge over the Cuale River. These glitzed up the already popular local attractions. The Los Muertos pier is shaped like a sail in the wind. You can't miss it if you're walking south down along the Malecon and beach.

Anyone can walk out onto the pier, it's a lovely area for a promenade, and you can sit on the benches and enjoy the view. At night, it transforms into a beautiful light show with shifting colors. It's a wonderful starting point for many activities after years of not having a docking option in this part of Vallarta.

Since the pier's construction, Francisca Rodriguez Street and its surroundings have become a major tourist attraction, with enhanced pedestrian and vehicular access. There's a lower ramp closer to the sea for passengers disembarking from water taxis, fishing boats, and other vessels.
