A Shotokan Karate 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th degree black belt grading without division within Shotokan. It is is good for the entire karate community.. A senior black belt grading that took place on the 17th Nov 2018. The good news is not about someone has who achieved a higher black belt degree Well it is a good thing but this is about something bigger.
It is my fellow karate friends got together and grade regardless of which Division of karate organisation we came from or belong to.

For decades we have witnessed and experienced karate bodies continue to divide itself into many different names due to disagreements, politics and power struggles between organisations. Some still meet together in competitions and some have totally separate and withdrew it's body from the rest.

A karate student moved to a different ;location just want to practice and learn karate may not be able to grade because of his or her previous organisation . Because this one's black belt was graded under another organisation even they are all the same style, doing the same kihon, using the same terminologies for their techniques, practice the same kata and share the same roots

Our club Tobukai Karate is Shotokan Karate. In the early 90s we were asked that pick a side weather we should register with JKA or SKIF. By the late 90s our sensei Dieter Steinegg took over the responsibility of the club and decided not to get involved the politics. Since then we were not affiliated with another organisation. We are just Shotokan.

In our club We get together to practice karate, some of us are instructors and some of us competed regional competitions some of us were selected representatives to represent our country and competed in internationally, some of us are involved in the committee of Karate New Zealand for our country.
About 3 years ago, my sensei proposed a senior level grading for us all and he was hoping to get a higher grade shihan involved to grade us as some of us are reaching 4th dan or 5th dan black belts. And we struggled to get this done. In South New Zealand we have members from Shotokan karate graded by JKA, SKIF, KUGB and Shotokan Karate in Germany.

This is a united karate grading and supported and graded by Karate New Zealand. We had karate practitioners examine for 2nd , 3rd 4th and 5th degree black belt.
