Hazard is a role-playing game in which the player controls Rick, a warrior whose master has been murdered. Together with Armi, a young girl he managed to save from the clutches of a monster and whose grandfather was killed, he decides to search for those responsible for the monster assault.

The player can control multiple characters in the game in a similar way as in most real-time strategy games. Each character has their owns statistics that improve when they acquire enough experience points to level up. Killed monsters drop loot such as weapons, potions and armor, which can be picked up and stored in the inventory. Characters can use weapons or magic to combat the monsters. There are a total of ten possible characters that can join Rick's party.
