Rare footage of Mother Jazz nursing both her young orangutans at the same time. Joe tries to grab from her mouth, and a pesky fly adds to the rare and playful family moment.

Orangutans are known to have the longest nursing period of any mammal, with young orangutans nursing for up to 8–9 years, and Mother Jazz is doing double duty. You don’t often see her nursing one of the boys now as they are pretty self-sufficient finding their own food, but seeing her nurse both boys at the same time is really rare.
Joe is trying to get something out of Jazz’s mouth. A little later, she snaps at Joe, and then a fly has her snapping again.

These two have quite the story, as they aren't twins. Orangutan Mother Jazz from the Dudley Zoo became super mum as she's not just looking after her own baby boy Jim (born 25th of June 2022), now she's looking after her daughter's new born baby Joe (born 23rd July 2022) as well, as her daughter found first-time motherhood a little bit challenging. When her daughter Sprout gave birth she walked away and left the baby on the floor. Mother Jazz picked the baby up straight away. Jazz is nursing both and giving both love, care and attention since then.
Flanged Orangutan male Djimat is the dad of both babies.
